Type Locality and Naming

Along the village of Dasgiryak, Tajikistan. M.R. Jalilov, 1968 (190, p.43). Stratotype on the southeast slope of the Jetymtau ridge, in the area of the village of Dasgiryak. Included in the Dasgiryak Horizon.

Synonym: Dasgiryak Suite, Дасгирякская св., Dasgirak Fm


Lithology and Thickness

Gray-green clays, siltstone (aleurolites) with interlayers of limestones and shell limestones. Thickness 25-100 m.


Lithology Pattern: 
Shallow-marine marl


Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Conformably overlies the Talhab Fm or Shargun Fm

Upper contact

Conformably overlain by the Muzrabat Fm or Sangardak Fm.

Regional extent

Southeast, South, Southwest Gissar, Babatag ridge. Corresponds to the lower part of the Dehkanabad Fm (56; 189; 300, 452).

Contains ammonites - Collignoniceras woolgari Mant., C, intermedium Haas., Proplacenticeras arkhangelsrii Iljin; marine bivalve mollusks - Inoceramus woodsi Böehm., Plicatula batnensis Coq., Liostrea jaxartensis Sim., L. ljangarensis Vinok., Costeina costei (Coq.); gastropods - Gyrodes garmakensis Dzhal.; foraminifera - Paragaudryina babaevi Suleim., Gavelinella moniliformis (Reuss), ostracods - Brachycythere dotata Mand., Cytherella elegans Andrv., C. bornemani Andrv.
